One of our favorite church friends turned 5 recently. She is the epitome of girly and loves gardening. Her mother booked her celebration at a local flower nursery. Together we decided that this would be the perfect cake design. Everything is edible but the flower stems on the purple “ribbon” roses. This is a rich chocolate 4-layer cake filled with alternating layers of chocolate Swiss Meringue Buttercream and chocolate ganache. The terracotta flowerpot is a modeling chocolate covering. It looks much like fondant but tastes MUCH better!! The flowers and vines are royal icing. The large pink roses are cupcakes piped with hot pink royal icing. To up the “girly factor”, the flowers were all given a generous dusting of iridescent edible glitter.
